A Bridge to the Americas – A Campaign for the Future

A Bridge to the Americas – A Campaign for the Future

Thanks to the support of our generous donors and members, MOLAA has grown into the most significant center for the study and dissemination of contemporary Latin American fine art and a magnetic cultural hub.

MOLAA’s program for growth has focused on creating a museum “from the inside out.”  We first grew the collection, then expanded the galleries and programming and now, after several years of extensive planning and construction, MOLAA’s new façade and expanded campus are finally complete.

The new MOLAA, which opened in June of 2007, holds a decade’s worth of aggressive growth, its reality far surpassing our grandest expectations.  Components of the $12,000,000 expansion include a research library, educational art studio, film-screening venue, two new galleries and a 15,000 outdoor event venue and gallery, the Sculpture Garden.  MOLAA’s new footprint has doubled our size and allows us to serve three times more visitors each year.

The new MOLAA is a visionary display of contemporary Latin American architecture and home to an impressive exhibition of over 1,000 works of contemporary Latin American fine art.

Our unparalleled Permanent Collection, significant temporary exhibitions and enriching educational programs and cultural events have catapulted MOLAA into our new role as the largest and most representative museum of contemporary Latin American art in the western United States.

Ongoing Capital Projects

Art Conservation Center: As a result of increased international visibility, MOLAA’s permanent collection has grown from 150 works at MOLAA’s inception to over 1,000 works of contemporary Latin American fine art.  In order to accommodate for this growth, MOLAA has received a $1.3 million grant from the California Cultural and Historical Endowment for the construction of a state-of-the-art storage facility, almost fulfilling our fundraising goal of $1.9 million.  Thank you CCHE!  To help MOLAA complete our much needed Art Conservation Center, please make a tax-deductible gift today.

“Beyond the Walls”:  In the final phase of our capital campaign, MOLAA means to become globally accessible, moving beyond the confines of our walls.  We will create a Virtual Museum  website, providing global access to our resources including our permanent collection images and supporting literature, archives, conservation program materials, educational curriculum and much more.
