MARCOS RAMIREZ ERRE:
EL JUEGO DEL ENGAÑO. DE PETROLEO, FUTBOL Y OTRAS APUESTAS / A GAME OF DECEPTION. OF OIL, SOCCER AND OTHER BETS
February 1, 2014 - July 13, 2014 - PROJECT ROOM
This exhibition has been curated by MOLAA Curator Idurre Alonso
The first Project Room exhibition of 2014 will be by the artist Marcos Ramírez ERRE (Mexico, b. 1961), who has made significant contributions to the development of contemporary art in the San Diego/Tijuana area. He describes his works as “constructions that accommodate ideas,” and frequently uses large-scale architectural formats—traffic signs, billboards, guideposts—to present socio-political issues relevant to the community.
ERRE’s project at MOLAA will address a relevant global issue that is particularly important in Mexico today: the use of natural resources and the partial privatization of Mexico’s oil industry. Utilizing large-scale constructions and modified objects, ERRE’s project will invite the public to think about the economic and political implications of recent events in Mexico related to oil and the environment.
